Seeing the way God uses color in his creation inspires my art and gives me a clearer view of His love for me and you. I'm inspired by the sparks of emotion I feel when I see color, and I hope you feel those sparks when you view my work.

who do you think you are?

who do you think you are?

“Who do you think you are??”, the voice whisper-shouts at me, as I click the button to pay for a custom-built website.

“ You are a homeschooling mom, with very little income from your puny art business, and you think you’re fancy like that?”

Well, no, I’m not fancy at all. I’m sitting here in my husband’s oversized tee, a house littered with beads, half-empty kids’ cups, and colored pencil stubs, and a yawning dishwasher begging to be emptied.

Not fancy, not professional, not even aspirational.

Who do I think I am??

Good question.

I am His workmanship, a child of the King, walking in faith because of the good things He has prepared for me.

I am a creative person, created by the Creator of the Universe, a masterpiece in the Hands of the Maker.

I am free to dream, free to take risks, free to fall and fail, because of His sanctifying grace.

I’m just a girl, trying to ignore the annoying doubt-filled voice in my head, and listen instead to the voice of the God who made me and made the cosmos.

So, okay, I’m a little fancy, but so are you, fellow masterpiece.

He created me to be a creative person, and a passion to send that creativity out into the world. He also made me to be a homeschooling parent ( to my utter shock and eventual joy), and even though it feels incredibly nutso to try to do both of those things successfully and harmoniously, shoot, I’m gonna try. Not because the hustle calls to me, or I’m trying to make a better life for myself and family.

I create because to NOT create would be like a fish who stops swimming.

And I share my art because seeing beauty in this world helps me to hear God’s voice more clearly, so why not share beauty with those around me?

Yeah, yeah, it’s easier said than done. But that’s a good starting point for drowning out that obnoxious voice.
